Never Find

Chavac, Jennifer

My grandmom’s name is Maria. She lives in Antigua Guatemala .In 1980, when the war began, she was 27 years old. she has currently 7 daughters and 1 son.
But when the war began she only had 5 daughters. Lucas Garcia was president but rios mott overthrew him.

My grandmother thinks that the war began because rich people didn’t wants to help poor people. The university students began to learn about the problem but the students began to learn about the problem but the students is few against the army.
But there were two groups called Army and Guerria, Army defending rich people and guerria defending poor people. The army killed people that is in gerria.
My grandmother says that she tried to find my grandfather but didn’t find him maybe he died or lived but we don’t know.

And now she tries again but he does not no trace, nothing about him she said that some people say that there is a place when many bodies are buried called Well. But his is the only possibility that he is buried but we don’t know.
My grandmother says that his happened like this: my grandfather was sitting down in his home, it was in the night they heard people walking outside and cars, then the army was inside everybody there: my grandmother, grandfather and her daughters.
They didn’t take them only my grandfather. They also took things a little gold, and her money when took my grandfather they said that they would come back.
But he never came back to his family. Then my grandmother changed her location and went to live in another home but she tried and tried to find him.

She worked so hard because she had her daughters. The bad thing is that her family didn’t help her and she didn’t have any help.

Far away (by Lin)

Today, I interview to my mother. Her name is San San. She is from Burma. I interview about War and Sickness of her father and her father’s family escaped from WWII in Burma. First, her father name is Chu King Ah. Chu was 15 years old, when the war started in his country. Chu was live with his parents, eleven brother and sister, his grandfather and grandmother.
In 1942, the enemy occupied to the Burma. The enemy was Japan. The reason that he and his family had to escape from his country was the place that they lived was the border of China and Burma. As I knew from interviewee Japan occupied the China first, but Japanese were not successful occupied the China. So, the way they back, they occupied the Burma. Another reason that Chu and his whole family, maybe other Burmese people were escaping because it was dangerous and Japanese soldiers were caught all the girls and women then, they killed all men and children by cut their heads. Ok, this is too cruel. Let move it up. So, that’s why Chu and his whole family was decide to escape from icy mountain to China because it’s easier to hide in the mountain and safer in the China. It was difficult to escape from Burma and get to the mountain because they have to hide many places to not let the Japanese to find out that they were escaping.
Then, they have to sneak out with their own power, that time no body were helping each other, except their family. The main reason Chu and his whole family   escaped to China because China was safer than Burma. Also, Chu and his whole family were Chinese. So, they all could speak Chinese to survive in China. On the way they got the big problem. Chu’s father and his grandfather got ill. The name of illness was “Deep Mosquito Mountain”. This illness can let human body have very low temperature and when bacteria get into brain that person will die. The first tragedy started was on the top of the mountain. Chu’s grandfather was dead and second person was his father. His father was dead in bottom of the icy mountain. They both were died by that illness called “Deep Mosquito Mountain”. Then, they got into China and the place they lived was Guangdong, Jiangmen, Taishan. Then, they lived in there about 3 years and Chu was went back first and check if it’s safe to let his whole family came back. This time, Chu used different way to back to the Burma. He used boat because it’s the easy and the fastest way but it’s also very expensive. After, one week Chu sends a letter to his family about Burma was safe to come back. Then, Chu’s family went back to Burma. At last, Chu and his family met at Burma and lived happily again.

The Distance Between the Family

By:Leslie Caamal

In this story speak about the immigration of my dad in United States. For him it was difficult and sad it come here because he left his family, and it was hardest to leaven his child because not had lived much with him is a person that does not like problems and always this slope of his child.

Ricardo is from the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. He is forty five years old. This is not first time that it is here, has been here seven years. He had been before in United States. Ricardo’s family is in Mexico. Ricardo misses his family because he wants play with his kids. He hardly lived and played with his children.                                Ricardo felt sad because his kids leave just growing up. He felt better after coming here because he was not in danger or in the border. Nothing happed to Ricardo but his best friends were dying from not having water. Once he was dying almost the same way. When tried to cross the border, he was caught by immigration. Ricardo did not have legal problems before. Ricardo knows English so-so but can more in the reading. Ricardo thinks he will stay long because his daughter it is studying’s here and it is a great opportunity her. Ricardo returned to try to pass because he didn’t want to fail his children.
My father name is William hi is from El salvador   when hi was 13 years old he used the drugs  because there was no one to guide me in correctly way the drugs are sad because it is a world with out reason define what this right and this wrong he felt sad because he have no consolation in the parent or other person when only comfort is the  drugs he living in El Salvador when he use the drugs. Drugs are sad because when you are using more and more need not think about the consequences that many come you have to accept you to yourself when you know that is bad defragmented what these aciendo then put all the will power and then my family.

SFIHS Family

By Sherman Chen

Our school is smaller than other high schools, so we can meet and talk with different people of our school easier. The students, teachers and staff look like a big family. We talk to each other, are nice to each other and have fun with each other every day.

Ricardo is a man who works in our school every day. He is one of our family members. He isn’t a student, he isn’t a teacher, and he is a custodian of our school.  Because of him, our school kept clean for a long time.

Ricardo is from Mexico. He came to the United States in 1993. At that time, he went to City College and took some training so he could find this job. Before he worked at this school, he also did the same job in downtown. He loves his job, he likes to work with students and work for the company. He worked at SFUSD about 5 years. He works 8 hours every day.

Every day he comes to school; the first thing he does is open the door of the school. Then he turns on the lights. After, he walks to the yard and check everything of the school. Last, he starts his work. The strongest memory about this school is meeting different kinds of students and people.

At first time, he felt this school is different from the school that he knew when he was a kid. He felt excited about that. Right now, he feels good because everybody is friendly. They always play with him and nice to him. They also keep the school clean.

Ricardo likes to work in our school because the students and teachers are good, they are respectful. He feels happy every day. However, he doesn’t like some students waste too many paper towels and threw trash. He thinks they should put the garbage away, spread them and keep the school clean. Ricardo doesn’t have office. From 7a.m to 8a.m, he is in cafeteria. From 10a.m to 2p.m, he walks around the school. From 3p.m to 4p.m, he tries to finish all the works. Ricardo starts his work at 7a.m, and he finish his work at 4p.m. he doesn’t want to change his job because the cleaning tool are enough for him and everything is easy for him even though he is busy every day. He wants to work at this school as long as he cans.

I want to say thanks to him because he keeps our school clean all the time. Ricardo, thank you for your hard work!
