By: Jennifer Ma

This story is grandmother’s childhood. She is 72 years old. When she was a child, she once saw the Japanese soldiers entered they village.
It happened in Taishan, Guangdong, China. One day, the Japanese soldiers come to they village. The Japanese soldiers come to the villager’s house; they took many things of the villager. When the Japanese soldiers leave they village, the villager think they are safe. But after two or three day, someone saw the Japanese soldiers came back. This time the villager saw the Japanese soldiers rape the woman, also kill them. So my grandmother’s family took her two brothers and her go to hiding. When they go to hide, they saw the Japanese soldiers killed a man and rape a woman. They felt very scared; they didn’t know what they should do. They fear the Japanese soldiers would shoot them. But they are lucky, because the Japanese soldiers didn’t saw them. They with other people with in the hole; there was no food and water. When they felt hunger, then the strong men would go to outside found some food and water. One day, they hear some Japanese soldiers walk in outside; they fear the Japanese soldiers would come. But they didn’t. Also they hear some gunfire sound. When the strong men come back, they said they saw the Chinese soldiers fight with the Japanese soldiers. After one week, someone said the Chinese soldiers won; they are safe, they can come back to them house.
When my grandmother comes back to her house, she saw many died people and some house were burned. My grandmother feet very angry, she hates the Japanese soldiers; she want to kill them, but she can’t. She said them posterity were innocent. She want peace, she hate the war happen again.
This is my grandmother’s childhood.
