Elaine 's Childhood Memory

By: Kexin

Elaine is a young girl. Her eyes are as dark as black pearls, and she has a sun-like smile. As far as I can see, she is from the small countryside in China. In her countryside, it doesn’t have noise like the city. Also the cities have many tall buildings to keep out the sunshine. The smog of London can’t compare with this countryside. Maybe you are imagining how this countryside look. In Chinese the name of her town means rainbow”. Just like its name, it is a beautiful and peaceful countryside. It’s a serene place. There, the sun shines through rosy flowery clouds. The birds sing everywhere. It’s a small village surrounded by mountains. The air is fresh. There is a small river through her front door. Its meandering water flows to some distance place. The river and its fish are reflected reflects in the blue sky above. The shapes of the clouds are reflected in the river. The fish in the river are playing with the shape of the clouds and jump out of the water, then the splash out. The children‘s playing and the splashing of the water can be heard near the river. The wind seems happy; it uses his hands to ruffle children's hair. It’s a quiet life poetic and away from disturbance of the city.

Of course, Elaine is playing with her friends who are playing with the fish near the river. She gets up early with them. Because they don’t want parents know it. They go to the river to catch fish or crabs. Before they work, they will specialization: who is suitable for catching fish, which is good at catching crabs…… Elaine is good at catching crabs. The first thing she will do in catch crabs is putting her hand on the crabs back which she wants to catch. But she should beware of crabs’ pliers. Gingerly, she puts them into wooden box. Reoccupy lid up. If you put them into the fishnet. The fishnet will break by crabs’ pliers. But when she goes to catch crabs, she will see her friends use a harpoon to make fish die. Then her friends will give the fish to their parents to make dinner.

Afterward, the blood flowing like stream. The river’s color is red. Floating in the river with the red blood of the setting sun is reflected dazzling light. It’s too cruel. But her friends don’t care about what they do.

She said, in her childhood, “catch crabs” was her favorite hobby and this is most her
dislike. She learned the value of life since she grow-up, she doesn’t want to do such things again.
