Quincy’s Immigration

By: Kevin Fan

Quincy is a 16 year old very friendly girl from China. She a girl who only study and work school work.

Before 2010, Quincy was still in her country, China. She lived in a small city in Guangdong named Zhongshan. She studyed in High School and her grades were average. But the studying in China is very hard, and it always made her feel very tired. Her parents always asked her “Do you want to immigrate to America?” But she never answered this question before, but when she studyed in 10th grade she told her parents she wanted to immigrate to America. She wanted to have a relaxing study life and to study more things, not only the knowledge on the books. She wanted to know more about the society. As a result, she immigrated to the U.S. Though this decision made her a little confused before, but now she thought she could get a better education here and get a good job in the future. That could make her life more colorful.

On November 16th 2009, she immigrated to America. She lived with her parents, brother and her grandparents. She thought one day she could get her own house. She thought U.S. was all high building. Here it is very beautiful. The sky is blue and the air is very fresh. People look kind and friendly. Though, she is new here but the environments make her feel close.

And now, she is studying in SFIHS, and she got high grade in all her subjects. The most difficult thing for her is that her English isn’t very good. It is very hard to learn and speak another language. She studys English by talking with other students in English and reading English books. But it’s difficult to understand new words she sees. Also, learning English in classes is the most helpful way. Sometimes, she will practice her pronunciation at home like facing the mirror and talking with herself.

Here maybe it is perfect for her, though sometimes there are many things to do that make her a little worried and upset. She said she would stay in America and finish her high school. Maybe she will go back to China and visit her friends and relatives. She thinks her future is hopeful.
