IMMIGRATETION STORY OF SHIHE

By: Ryan Yu

Shihe Lin is my classmate. We learn together in San Francisco International High School. We both enjoy our lives now.   Shihe he is a frugal boy. He comes from Guangdong, China. He lives in San Francisco right now. He is a newcomer here. He was immigrated to the United   States in 2010.
He came with his parents to United States. He felt a little scared about this when got off the plane because he detected that everything around him all changed. At the beginning, he felt very uncomfortable to live here. He was even afraid to go outside. Therefore, he didn’t have too many friends here. He knew he should be adapting the new environment. The big challenge for him was the English language because his first language is Chinese. He was really poor in the English. Basically, he needed someone to translate so he could understand. However, he should use the English all the time here. The English was important to himself. If he had a lot of English skills, he will be able to get good jobs. It means English decided to his fate. He was very worried about his English. He really wanted to change it, and get a good future. He made up his mind and began working hard in English.
Countless days and nights, he struggled to keep going to work hard in English. He always reviewed his homework after school. He tried his best to have the English communication with someone. He often asks teacher some questions that he couldn’t understand. He is very proud of himself.  His goal was to learn 10 new words every day. His classmates often helped him during the class. His teachers took care of his studies. He also took part in the after school program. His English began to improve much faster. He did a good job during this semester. He felt a little bit successful about that. He can do his homework easily and chat with the English speaker fluently right now.
He is more and more popular in our school. He says he love San Francisco too much right now.
This is a story about a newcomer Shihe, how he adapted to the new environment, and how can we face the troubles in our life and overcome them.
