Laine`s Life Story

By: Kart Jogila

Laine Kald was born on October 17, 1938 in Imavere parish and she was the penultimate child. Laine had 4 sisters and 2 brothers. Germans took the older brother to a war when he was 18 years old. He died in the battle between the Germans and the Russians. In this battle Estonians killed Estonians.  Her second brother died on June 22 of 2009. So right now 5 sisters are still alive.
The parents of these seven children were Mr. Vardi Markson and Mrs. Alviine Markson. They were farmers. In their farm there were horses, lambs, pigs, chickens, cats and dogs. My grandmother had a horse named Peedu. But the Russians took Peedu away.
Laine graduated from Imavere grade school. When she was teenager she was involved in dancing, singing and in athletics. She left home when she was 14 and she went to Oisu technical dairying. After graduating she went to work in Ahja margarine factory. At first she worked in lab but later she was margarine makers helper.
In 1959 she went to work in Tamme margarine factory and she was a margarine maker. In the factory she met Vello Jogila. He was a school principal in Tartu. Tamme margarine factory was liquidated. Laine went to live in Tartu.
On 20, October 1962 she got married with Vello Jogila. In 1963 my uncle Sven was born. In 1969 my father Veiko was born. In 1972 my aunt Katrin was almost born but she died. In 1973 Vello and Laine got divorced.
10 years later Laine met Sulev Kald and they got married. Sulev was a music teacher and he died in January of 2000.
Now Laine is 72 years old and she is involved in dancing and singing. She is a happy grandmother.
